Sariska Tiger Reserve features a scenic valley landscape in the Aravalli hills, famous for Royal Bengal Tigers, leopards, and ancient ruins like Kankwari Fort.
Located in the Alwar district of Rajasthan, Sariska covers a dry deciduous forest ecosystem. In 2005, it became the first reserve in the world to successfully relocate Bengal tigers after local populations had vanished.
The reserve is unique for its historical monuments, including the 10th-century Kankwari Fort, where Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb once imprisoned his brother Dara Shikoh, and the sacred Pandupol Hanuman temple located deep within the forest.
Sariska Forest Safari — Jeep safaris through rocky cliffs and dry scrub forests to look for tigers, leopards, hyenas, and nilgai.
Kankwari Fort — A historic 10th-century fort situated on a hill inside the reserve, accessible by jungle jeep tracks.
Pandupol Temple — An ancient waterfall and temple dedicated to Hanuman, located deep inside the forest, connected to Mahabharata legends.
Bhangarh Fort (Extension) — The famous ruins of Bhangarh, globally renowned as India's most haunted fort, located just 50 km from Sariska.
