Kanha National Park, the setting for Rudyard Kipling's Jungle Book, features beautiful sal forests, open meadows, and is home to the Royal Bengal Tiger and the rare Barasingha.
Situated in the heart of Madhya Pradesh, Kanha is one of India's largest and most immaculately managed national parks. It is globally famous for saving the Southern Swamp Deer (Barasingha) from extinction, providing them a safe habitat in its vast grassy meadows.
The park features thick sal and bamboo forests, rolling hills, and clear streams. Visitors explore the park via open-jeep safaris in zones like Kanha, Kisli, and Mukki, looking for tigers, leopards, wild dogs (dholes), and Indian bison (gaur).
Kanha Meadows — Vast grassy plains that host herds of Barasingha and offer excellent vistas for spotting hunting tigers.
Jeep Forest Safari — Jeep safaris led by expert forest naturalists through the core zones, providing deep wildlife encounters.
Bamni Dadar (Sunset Point) — The highest plateau in the park, offering panoramic views of the forest canopy and sunset vistas of grazing herbivores.
Shravan Tal — A historic freshwater lake inside the park, associated with local mythology of Shravan Kumar from the Ramayana.
