Amarnath is one of Hinduism's most sacred shrines, situated at 3,888 meters, famous for the natural formation of the holy ice stalagmite (Shivalinga).
Situated in a narrow gorge in the high Himalayas of Kashmir, the Amarnath is accessible only during the summer months of July and August. The cave houses an ice stalagmite that waxes and wanes with the phases of the moon, believed to represent Lord Shiva.
The pilgrimage (yatra) is highly challenging and can be undertaken either via the steep 14 km Baltal route or the longer, traditional 36 km Pahalgam route. Helicopter services from Baltal and Pahalgam to Panjtarni help make the yatra accessible.
Holy Amarnath — The high-altitude cave housing the natural ice Shiva Linga, where Shiva is said to have explained the secret of immortality to Parvati.
Baltal Route — The shorter but steeper 14 km yatra route starting near Sonamarg, popular for quick helicopter yatra packages.
Pahalgam Route — The traditional yatra route passing through Chandanwari, Sheshnag Lake, and the high Mahagunas Pass (4,276m).
Sheshnag Lake — A high-altitude, emerald-green lake surrounded by snow peaks, which serves as a major campsite on the Pahalgam route.
On arrival at Srinagar airport, our representative meets you and transfers you to Sonamarg (2,690 m), the Meadow of Gold. Check in at the hotel and overnight stay.
